Impression of the 2nd state (of 15), before the borderline, before the letter and before the adding of the 4 chimneys.

Very fine impression printed on laid paper with watermark D&C BLAUW.

A very light stain in the lower part of the image, otherwise in very fine condition. Full uncut margins (sheet: 350 x 525 mm).

This is one of Buhot's most popular etchings; it is also know as Les Fiacres (The Hackney Cabs). The place described by Buhot as the Quai de l’Hôtel-Dieu is today the Quai des Fleurs on the Île de la Cité.
