SOLD

Woodcut printed in colors in the Japanese way, 127 x 224 mm at the borderline, 133 x 228 mm (sheet). Vabre undescribed.

Very fine impression printed full margins on thin laid japan paper,  with the small Isaac’s Swastika bottom left and his « I in flower » bottom right (cf Lugt 4990).

In perfect condition.

An early print by Isaac printed from an alabaster plate of the same dimensions but vertical also depicts a view of Venice with a gondola in the foreground. We offer another woodcut by Isaac depicting a venitian boat (Vabre 85). Yoshijirô Urushibara, a japanese artist and friend of Isaac's, also engraved several venitians scenes (Grand Canal, Venice or Gondolas in the lagoon after Brangwyn).

Isaac's prints weren't widely distributed and are very rare nowadays.
